When we think of the national parks, we inevitably daydream of the iconic 63 National Parks. Yet the National Park Service preserves literally hundreds of other, lesser-known-but-no-less-beautiful-and-historic sites, including places like Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site, in Colorado. The fort solidified one of the most important and last established trading cartels in the Rocky Mountain West. William and Charles Bent, along with Ceran St. Vrain, built the original adobe fort on this site in 1833 to trade with Plains Indians and trappers. The fort quickly became the center of the expanding holdings of Bent, St. Vrain & Company, including Fort St. Vrain to the north and Fort Adobe to the south, along with company stores in Taos and Santa Fe. The perfect addition to your home or office decor or an excellent national park gift for the enthusiast in your family, this original national park art will look great as a print, poster, notecard, postcard, metal sign, canvas, or mini canvas. This hand-rendered design is fashioned in the style of vintage poster art and the iconic 20th century travel art that first promoted the national parks, national monuments, and other protected lands.
